James Sagoe is a highly experienced Finance/Management Executive. He is a Chartered Accountant, a Banker, and a Financial Analyst, spanning a period of over thirty years. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana and holds Executive Master’s degree in Business Administration (Finance Option) from the University of Ghana Business School.

James has extensive expertise in Strategic Planning, Internal/External Auditing, Business Consulting, and Financial Management. His working experience started from working with the Volta Aluminium Company (VALCO) as the Cost Accountant, Planning & Financial Analyst, and Chief Accountant, to Kaiser Aluminum & Chemicals Corporation as the Financial and Operational Auditor in USA, UK, and Jamaica for about twenty years. He worked for Universal Merchant Bank as Business Analyst and Financial Controller for about five years, and Agricultural Development Bank as Executive Head for Finance & Planning for six years before joining Stanford University as Seed Facilitator in August 2016.

His accomplishments include the introduction of the concept of Responsibility Accounting at Universal Merchant Bank and the establishment of a Special Unit to restructure non-performing customer organizations. At Agricultural Development Bank, he developed a comprehensive Accounting Policy Manual and Financial Planning Models for the bank and spearheaded the outsourcing of non-core banking activities to improve operational efficiency. He also set up robust internal control mechanisms to plug revenue leakages, and strengthen cost effectiveness wherever he worked. His experience and expertise in Banking and Finance culminated in his appointment to serve on the Board on several companies including Global Access Savings and Loans, Activity Venture Finance Company, Accra City Car Park, L’aine Services, and Ghana Textiles Manufacturing Company. He is currently the Board Chairman of Bond Savings & Loans, Asadtek Group, and Greenline Logistics Ltd.

James’ interest in mentoring students resulted in serving as a part-time lecturer of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana for over six years. He also served on the Education and Training Committee of the Institute.
